BEFORE + AFTER
BEFOREI couldn't have asked for a better venue for my first art exhibition than Haus of Godspeed. Bryant, RJ, and the rest of the guys from the Haus were so helpful and supportive. They really want to see artists succeed and provide a great platform for that to happen. We arrived at Haus of Godspeed Thursday evening to start setting up for the show to take place on Saturday. Our blank canvas awaited us.
When I was contemplating between two venues, I looked up the definition of Godspeed:God • speed/gädˈspēd/1. an expression of good wishes to a person starting a journey. It seemed pretty fitting. A perfect match.Thank you Kelly, Jenna, Chris, and Anthony (behind the camera) for all of your hard work...Kelly made sure all the pieces were straight.
Jenna was the boss.
And Chris didn't do shit... just kidding! Chris did a great floating head impression.
It took us awhile to get started. I don't think any of us really hung art pieces before. It is quite possible that zero percent of us had actually used a hammer before.
Chris does an amaaaazing job looking into the future... and looking busy. He made sure to have a pencil behind his ear at all times to make it look like he was measuring something.
Boss.
This might look like a really cute picture to most of you, but in reality, I was trying to wrestle the tape measure away from Boss, but she wouldn't let it go.
This is Bryant. I wish I had more pictures of him, because he was so helpful in getting the space ready for the exhibition. A great artist himself, we were probably talking about something incredibly awesome.
Old Johnny.
Chris is doing some intense mathematics in his head. Probably long division.
This is RJ. Can't thank him enough for all he did for the show. He first introduced me to Haus of Godspeed and was heavily involved in getting the space ready... At this point everything was hung and it was pretty much showtime.
AFTERAnthony, Kelly, and I met up with Bryant and RJ the day after the show to break down the pieces.
It was nice to catch up and take a break up on the rooftop and reminisce about how the previous nights festivities went. All in all, "Great Success"! (Borat voice)
"So you like blue shirts?""Yeah, I like blue shirts. You?""Yeah, I like blue shirts too.""Me too."
And that's a wrap. Good day to you Haus of Godspeed. Good day.All photos courtesy of Anthony Malinao.- Dru
