LAST CALL

Last Call, along with The Aristocrat, are kind of like spin off paintings from Saluté. Minor characters from the larger painting spinning off to be the stars of their own smaller painting. Saluté, of course, is inspired by The Muppets, and the coo coo clock inspired by Sam the Eagle. Last call at this bar is supposed to be at 2am, but if you pay close attention to the clock in Saluté, then you'll know the party didn't stop at 2 (more on that later). I thought it would be fun to have a coo coo bird inside a coo coo bird inside a coo coo bird. Every hour, on the hour, the coo coo clock strikes and the coo coo bird inside the coo coo bird inside the coo coo bird pops out to deliver one lucky customer a complimentary Hennessy shot! So which famous birds are these coo coo birds inspired by? Well, you already know the main bird on the clock is patterned after Sam the Eagle from The Muppets. And I think anyone that had anything resembling a childhood would recognize that the first bird out of the clock sports a strong resemblance to Big Bird. Lastly, the Hennessy shot deliverer was inspired by Woodstock from the Peanuts comics.Last Call. 16"x20". Acrylic on canvas.
