LIFE AIN'T ALWAYS RAINBOWS
You can imagine my surprise when I logged into this website to submit a post and realized I've only posted once in the last month. Where does the time go?! Actually, I know exactly where the time goes! Yesterday Liam turned 4 months old. It's been the 4 best months of my life. I was going to post an amazing video of his latest Tummy Time, where he held up his enormous head for over a minute like it was nothing. If you've seen his head, then you know this was no small feat. However, when I was looking for the video on my phone, I realized I must not have hit the record button the first time, so when I hit it the second time to stop recording, it actually started the recording, so all I found was a 3 second video of me putting my phone in my pocket. I hated life for about 45 minutes.Usually, Liam hates Tummy Time. He just lays there, tries to hold his head up for a few seconds, head bouncing from the strain, until he finally submits face down on the floor until he starts to cry or until someone picks him up. But this Tummy Time was different. He held his head up like he's been doing it his whole life. He looked side to side, finally catching my eyes and locking in, as if to tell me "Hey Dad, what you know about these traps son!" It was as if his neck muscles fully developed over night. It was truly amazing. So proud. Alas, this is all the evidence I have of the most amazing act of strength by a 4 month old in the history of mankind.
As if realizing I did not record this monumental moment wasn't bad news enough, I received the following text from my sister this morning:"OMG! Did you know they discontinued Rainbow Chip frosting?!?! So sad!!!!"
So sad, indeed.Recently, my wife and I have caught up with the first 2 seasons of The Newsroom. Watching this show has inspired me to give you the news that you need to know, and you all need to know that Betty Crocker has discontinued one of the best things about my childhood. When my mom would bake cakes, I would sit on the counter top and just watch. Helping with tiny tasks here and there, but ultimately just watching and waiting to hear the seven greatest words a fat 3 year old could imagine... "Do you want to lick the bowl?" Licking the bowl in which the Betty Crocker Rainbow Chip cake (or any type of cake mix really) was just mixed was so fantastic, it could only be matched by the frosting which would complete the best cake ever.I'm devastated that my son will grow up in a world where Betty Crocker Rainbow Chip frosting does not exist. You're better than that Betty. Bring it back... just bring it back.- Dru
